Jade's 2nd Birthday

Winter is freezing (not blowing) by and I again haven't posted anything in over a month. Maybe someday I will get better with this, but then again, maybe I will just come to the realization that I'm a once-in-awhile type blogger.

So, the month of December brought a busy time of year once again for us. Jade turned 2 years old, we were up in Grand Forks for Christmas, and we have been making decisions for the house left and right.

Jade's birthday was a hit! We had family and friends over to celebrate our munchkin turning two. Our house felt really small with everyone that was there, but we had a lot of fun. Jade was a little overwhelmed with everyone that was there even though she knew everyone. It took her a little while to not cling to me so much, but I really do think she had a great time. Her birthday was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed. It was a lot of work to get everything together, but I was happy with the way everything turned out. Jade just loves her Mickey Mouse!

I should have taken a picture of the island with all the food on it. We had fruit and vege pizza, lil smokies in the crock pot and chips and dip. You are able to see our cupcakes in one of the following pictures. I had fun coming up with the decorations!

You can download the Disney font to your computer! I was even able to figure out how to do it. I don't know if I could do it again, but I figured it out when I needed to.

I would have put this on the front door, but our storm door was pretty foggy so you wouldn't have been able to see it.

Thanksgiving

Instead of posting something to be thankful for the whole month of November, I thought I would just write a list. I also know I'm late on another blog, but what's new right?

So for the 30 days of November, here is what I'm thankful for:

1. First and foremost my faith. Through Him all things are possible right?
2. My husband who has shown me more to life than I ever thought another person could. He is absolutely my better half! He supports me in everything, loves me unconditionally, respects me, gives me confidence...the list could go on. I could probably list 30 things of why I'm thankful to have him in my life.
3. My amazing, bubbly, smiley little girl. She makes every day worth getting up for. She continues to amaze me each and every day. I can't believe it's already been 2 years worth of fun with her!
4. My family...Mom, Dad, and brother. They are the initial 3 to shape and mold me into who I've become. I love how close we all are and wouldn't trade one of them for the world!
5. My "other" family...Mike, Jean, Lee, Jenna. They have welcomed me into their family with open arms. I couldn't have gone out and hand picked a better family to marry into.
6. To be able to build my "dream" home at the age of almost 30. Even though we've recently had a set back on the house, we will still be moving into a house that Nate and I together designed to call ours.
7. To be able to stay home and raise our kids. Although I never dreamed or imagined I would be a stay at home, I'm excited to give it a whirl! I'm so excited for the added family time we will share because I won't be working nights and weekends.
8. The friends I have made through the years. Compared to others, I may not have the most friends, but I don't doubt that I have some of the best there is!
9. Kit-Kats!! I absolutely want you to break me of a piece of that kit-kat-bar!! YUMMY
10. Being able to learn things from my Grandma like making buns and lefse.
11. The opportunity to start my own business in becoming a Thirty-One Consultant. I was very hesitant about doing it, but in the first 6 months of selling, I love it!
12. My parents making the move from Riverton to Grand Forks. It has already been awesome to have them so much closer!
13. A car with a car starter during the cold winters up North! It hasn't been working all the great this winter for some reason, but it's still awesome to have.
14. Shoremaster...who Nate is employed by. He truly loves his job and enjoys the people he works with. It's so nice to have an upbeat Husband and Daddy come home every night as opposed to a crabby one!
15. The couple who have bought our house. They have been absolutely amazing in letting us pay rent for 4 months until our house is done and until they are able to move in!
16. Social media. Although that probably sounds dumb, it's a great way to keep in touch with people without having to make a 20+  minute phone call to stay in touch.
17. The chance to know all my Grandparents and even one Great Grandma. They are all amazing in their own way and I'm happy to say I have had the chance to truly get to know all of them...with maybe the exception of my Great Grandma.
18. Amazon delivering diapers to my doorstep monthly! I never have to go the store for diapers or wipes and I love that!
19. Online shopping. I hate the crowds during this time of year and would much rather buy things online and just have them dropped off at my doorstep. Plus, the kid in me comes out with excitement as new packages await daily right now!
20. The ability to get pregnant and have pretty easy pregnancies. I know many people have a hard time getting pregnant and have miscarriages all the time, so I am especially thankful for this and do not take being pregnant for granted.
21. Portable electronics. I don't know how our parents did it without them! We watch movies on the road. I hand Jade my phone at the store to keep her occupied with shows, pictures, games, etc. Flying home to Wyoming was a breeze because of them!
22. Kiddo food that comes in pouches that our parents never had. Jade loves her fruit pouches and I can take them anywhere with us! What's even better is the lid if she doesn't want all of it right then we just save it for later.
23. The opportunity to play sports throughout high school and a little during college. I think it really taught me how to work hard and work with others.
24. Caramel spice apple cider on cold days when I'm supposed to limit my caffeine intake. It's not my latte I love so much, but it still warms the body from the inside out.
25. To live somewhere where it snows so I can show my kids how to build snow forts and snowmen, go sledding and ice skating, make snow angels, etc. The only thing I miss from back home is the skiing!
26. To live in an area with so many lakes. Gotta love the summer months and outings on the lake. Now, we just have to buy a boat!
27. My new washer and dryer! I love them. I can wash big loads and save on space when they are stacked.
28. Dolly Parton imagination library that sends Jade a new book in the mail every month. Most of these books have been at one time or another Jade's favorite books! Nate and I have even tried to hide some them because we are so sick of reading them. Out of sight, out of mind right?
29. My education. Even though I might not continue to work or when I go back to work, I might not use my degree. I'm still very happy I did what I did.
30. Being rich. Not with money, but with what I do have that money can't buy. It used to be so easy for me to come up with lists of things I "want." But as each year goes by, I realize I already have everything I "want." Life is good!

Wow! That was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I know I have many things to be thankful for, but to come up with 30 things at one sitting is tough.

And again,  a couple pictures of my little cutie. She puts a smile on my face everyday! Love this little lady!!

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly...

Oh, the many ups and downs of pregnancy.

The Good: 

• I have to admit that maternity pants are the absolute best! Elastic waist bands on all pants, count me in! You can always eat as much as you want with this expanding waist band. I'm not talking about the waist band that covers your entire stomach, which I think it slightly annoying, but the waist band that's like your sweat pants. I actually wouldn't mind wearing them year round!
• Eating and not feeling guilty! For whatever reason I don't gain a lot of weight being pregnant and get by eating crap if I want to b/c I need to gain weight! I only gained about 20-22 pounds with Jade and am on pace to do the same with this one. So bring on the french fries, ice cream, and cookies!

The Bad:

• Raging hormones. I'd like to think my overall attitude is pretty good most the time. I know I've had a couple days that nothing is wrong, I just seem like I'm in a bad mood, but the tears seem to find their way down my cheeks at any given moment. I don't have anything that's going to beat my last pregnancy and crying as Zach Morris crossed the stage during graduation in that episode of Saved by the Bell, but I have shed a lot more tears this go round! I've teared up sitting at church; I cry watching TV and listening to music; I cry watching Jade play and thinking how much our lives are going to change; I tear up for no reason at all! I cry when I'm happy, sad, mad, tired, etc! 
• Being tired/lack of energy. I'm guessing it's because I have an almost 2 year old to run around with all morning, but I have been more tired this time around. I also don't do the best job of making time to work out like I did last time. I still went to the gym 4-5 times a week with Jade and with this one, I try to get my butt out of bed to work out in the house before Jade gets up but some days that's easier said than done. This morning I did try Yoga with Jillian Michaels! I can already feel the soreness coming on! Working out did help me feel better thought so I'm doing my best to keep it going. I'm too cheap to pay for childcare at the gym, so I find things to do in the basement between videos, the elliptical, and making up my own routine.

The Ugly:

• Since the throwing up stage is gone, the occasional constipation and the heartburn have to be the ugliest part!! I already have acid reflux, but add being pregnant on top of that...yuck! With Jade, my heartburn got better for some reason...not how this one is panning out at all.

Big Sister Jade

Yes, that's right...Jade is going to be a big sister in March! We couldn't be more excited to add to our family. Jade is going to be the best big sister, I can already tell. She loves to help Mommy and I can just about imagine how much in love with the baby she is going to be!

Overall this pregnancy has been going just about as easy as the last one. I feel a little more dizzy/nauseous this time than I did the last time. Still at 17 weeks, I get nauseous feelings most days. I seem to be more hungry this time too, but have gained no weight like I did last time. I ended up loosing weight before gaining again with this one. I have started showing more again. I "popped" a little earlier this time, but really didn't start growing until recently. I don't think I thought I actually looked pregnant with Jade until about 21-22 weeks. I think I'm a little ahead with this one, but not much. I also think I've been feeling movement, but different than what I felt with Jade. This feels more like rolling where Jade felt more like kicks. Either way, being pregnant is such a miracle and so fun to go through even if there are days of pure torture.

We have also finally broke ground on our house in Fergus Falls. The weather has not cooperated as much as we would have liked with all the rain we've had, but are still happy that something is going on on our lot other than weeds growing. I think we are hoping at this point to moved in to our home in January. We ended up selling our house in West Fargo to a couple who is willing to let us pay them rent until our house is done. How we landed that sale is still a shock to me, but are so glad that we didn't even have to list our house! We also don't have to find a place to stay until our house is done. Nate and I are trying our hardest to stay ahead of the game in picking everything out for the house. So far we have a dark green siding I think it's called blue ivy, white trim, carriage style garage doors, and windows are ordered. As far as the interior goes, we have decided to go with hickory wood. Our kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities will all be hickory. We are trying to find flooring to go with the hickory cabinets now and looking into stone for the outside. This is quite the process to say the least. We sure do hope that all this pays off in the end and we LOVE our house!

Just had to add one more picture of Jade. We took her tailgating and to part of a football game for the second year in a row. She loved it this year! I think She could have stayed longer, but Grandma Noland was ready to leave :).

Change is GOOD!

Someday I will make blogging a part of my day/week, I just haven't been able to figure out the best time to blog I guess. It's been a couple months since I have written anything and there have been a couple big changes to our lives I'm excited to share.

First, we have decided to move! Nate has been commuting to Fergus Falls for the last 2 years and is ready to spend more time with Jade and I. We started looking for houses this spring hoping to find a house we could call home by the end of the summer. Nate has been amazing in this process! He contacted multiple realtors to help us in our search for a house and went to view homes we thought had potential online.  Our search for an existing house was unsuccessful, so it was on to plan B, building!! Although I knew this was a long process, I was secretly hoping for this. Nate contacted the bank, builders, and realtors.  He found a couple lots he thought would be great for us, so we started to design our "dream" home.  We fell in love with a floor plan we designed and started moving forward with this decision. It has been a LONG process, but an exciting one too. We bought a 2.3 acre lot a little out of town. It's huge! We didn't need a lot this big, but we really liked the area. It's out of town, but still in a neighborhood. We will never have neighbors out our back door as there is a pond there! It's very pretty. I think we will be very happy once we are all done. We are hoping to get into our house by Christmas, but are expecting to move in January. When finished, our house will be a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom rambler with a walk out basement. We are just finishing the main floor right away. Nate loves finishing basements (insert sarcasm), so he will be doing that again in the next couple years or so I would guess. We are really excited to leave the big city of Fargo and become a part of a smaller community. I will be staying home with Jade when we move. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to stay at home with our kids, but feel very blessed that it has become a reality.

I have decided to start my own business and become and Independent Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts. A big reason I decided to do this was because of us moving. I wanted to find a way I could meet other women in the area and thought this would help me get out there. I hosted one party myself last December and fell in love with their products. I hope to be able to throw a couple parties a month and make a little income to help us save for a trip, pay off some loans, etc. I am excited to be my own boss and set my own hours! It will be quite a change from working multiple nights a week and most Saturday's, but a change I'm ready for.

Bubye Wyoming...

I thought I posted this right after my trip... I guess not. Rather than deleting it, I'll just post it now. 2 months late!

I made my final trip to visit my parents and the house I grew up in in Riverton, Wyoming. It's bitter sweet to say the least. I'm sad for my parents to leave what I still call "home," but super excited to have them close. Jade and I hopped on an airplane and flew out to visit. Jade was quite the trooper as we flew out of Fargo at 6:10AM...which means I grabbed her out of bed at 4:45. I thought for sure she'd sleep the first plane so left her in her pj's, but she must have been excited because she didn't fall asleep until we were making our descent into Denver. She then slept long enough for me to grab breakfast and coffee for myself. I of course thought she looked uncomfortable in her umbrella stroller and was going to lay her down on a blanket on the floor to keep sleeping, dumb idea! She woke up as I tried to move her and was ready to roam around the airport. My friendly munchkin made friends with a couple kids waiting for our plane from Denver to Riverton. I don't know where she gets her friendliness...must be her Dad. She waved at many people as we made our way through the airport, and loved smiling, laughing, and waving at the stewardess's. She loved the escalators, elevators, and moving walkways, saying "Oooo" the whole time. She was amazed by the airplanes and would stand at the window watching them and the all the busy workers outside. It's so fun seeing the world through a child's eyes! It's been a while since I have actually flown into Riverton and forgot how loud and bumpy of a ride the little planes are! It was so nice to fly to Riverton instead of getting to Casper and then driving two more hours home!

Grandma and Grandpa Elgin were super prepared for our arrival. They had gone through old boxes and grabbed some of my old toys for her to play with. They found babies, a stroller, a shopping cart, a trike, a wagon, and more random things. They also went out and bought an inflatable pool for Jade to play in during the hot Wyoming days. Although Jade didn't sleep the best in Wyoming, I think she had a lot of fun. She got to see horses and ducks up close and personal. She went to the park, played on the swing set at Church (during Church), dug in the garden, met a few people, played with a ton of rocks, splashed in the pool, went to her first softball games...the list could go on. She was very busy and my parents just sat and laughed at everything she did. She does such a good job playing and entertaining not only us, but herself too.

I got to enjoy my last visit to 1215 Robin Lane playing with my girl, talking and hanging out with my parents, and visiting people who came to the house. I was surprised with my favorite Breadboard sandwich upon our arrival...Nummy Num (as Jade would say). We spend most nights sitting on the deck after grilling food for dinner. The view from that deck is something I think we'll all miss. There is so much more that we could have done while we were there and so many more people we could have visited as there is no telling when we'll be back to Riverton, but I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere...you just can't do it all. I certainly am going to miss things about the home and town I grew up in, but again, couldn't be more excited to have my family close.

After 5 days away from home, we were both ready to come back to Fargo. Jade missed her Dada and Duuuke and I was ready for a good nights sleep. We boarded our plane at noon and waved our final goodbye to Riverton. I got a little emotional as we flew away, saying goodbye to 18 years of my life. We got to Denver with about 40 minutes to get to our next flight. We booked it across terminal A and made it to our gate in terminal B with a few minutes to spare. We were pulled off the runway in Denver to let some nasty weather pass and got off the ground just before an even nastier weather system approached the area. I had heard there was a tornado warning within probably 10-20 minutes of when we left Denver! So glad we didn't have to unload and reload the plane! My bag didn't make it across the terminal in Denver in time, so I had to leave the airport with no bag. Luckily it was delivered the next morning, but I still had to make due without some essentials in the morning. 

Let the summer fun continue...

Spring has Sprung!

Wow, again it has been over a month since I last posted anything! Where do I start...what have we been up to? Not that we have had a ton of nice weather as of yet, but I can honestly say Jade and I will be outside ALL summer long! My little girl loves the outdoors! They only way I can even make her think of going inside is to get a snack and/or watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She loves watching other kids play, taking me for walks, walking through puddles, going to the park, playing fetch with Duke, and the list could go on. For my sake, I hope it's a nice summer. Jade will go outside in rain, wind, cold, etc. I would really prefer to play inside on rainy and cold days, but how do you tell your 1 year old that you don't want to go outside when her baby blue eyes are staring up at you as she's standing at the door with her shoes in hand saying "pease?" So, out we go...rain or shine! Thankfully Nate has done a great job with the yard this year too so, we have a nice place to play. It is finally starting to fill in and get thick. It only took 4 years! I can't wait to pull out the pool, but that doesn't like it's going to be in the near future. This spring has been filled with rain...and it looks like we will getting more of that before we feel the "heat" of the summer.
